Below is a drone photograph of Northfields in Biggleswade from a property website. I think it’s a great image to show you the land north of Biggleswade stretching towards the green sand ridge in the distance. The railway line is to the left (west) and Furzenhall farm to the north. Somewhere on this land the bronze age cursus and ring ditches once stood. Was this street named for it being north of Biggleswade or because of Mrs Northfield who once owned land here?

A picture taken with a drone showing terraces of 1970s houses with a wide stretch of golden fields behind and in the distance the darrk trees a low hills of the green sand ridge at Sandy.

Below is a photograph of Andy and Dolly on a boat. Andy’s cottage is now surrounded by streets of modern houses bult in the last 60 years.

Andy a man wearing t-shirts and shorts and a baseball hat holding Dolly a cream coloured chihuahua and yorkshire terrier cross. They are sitting on a boat with reeds in the background and blue sky.

Here’s the bill of sale of the cottages from the early 20th Century.

A bill of sale for 4 brick built and slated cottages. The details are read out on the podcast.

Below is a photo taken by Andy of one of the community walks he organises. This is taken along Furzenhall Road, again giving you a good idea of how flat and featurless the land is.

A wide flat expanse of land and a road leading into the distance. The sun is setting and the sky is a peachy colour on the horizon and blue overhead.

Furzenhall farm was featured in an issue of Horse and Hounds a couple of years ago so if you follow the link you can see the farm house both inside and out!

Here’s the information about the archeolgoical finds on the land north of Biggleswade.

And this photo is of the site of the Roman Temple over the Potton Brook on Biggleswade common east of Furzenhall farm.

A green scrubby landscape to the left on the right is a fence and trees. The sky is mix of grey and white clous with streaks of blue and pale gold near the horizon.

And here’s an article about the controversial house building plans for this land.
