Original Episode and Blog Posts

If you haven’t listened to the first ever episode of Weird in the Wade about the haunted Poundstretcher you can listen here.

I also wrote two blogs about the haunting and the second part of the blog posts features information I’ve not yet shared on the show about the great fire of Biggleswade.

Jones’ Gym and Coffee Shop

The Poundstretcher is now a lovely coffeeshop and gym. Here’s a photo of the upstairs of the coffeeshop. It’s really cosy and the coffee and food are amazing.

A cafe with a large sofa and comfy chairs large windows and a mirror on the wall. There are wooden beams and fairy lights.
Upstairs at Jones’ Fitness Coffee Shop

I want to say a huge thank you to all the staff and customers at Jones’ Gym who helped us on the night of our ghost hunt. Thank you so much for letting us run around the place with weird gadgets making strange noises!

Ghost Hunting

Here are some behind the scenes pictures and video from our ghost hunt.

a group of people sitting around a table in the coffeeshop Lucy with headphones and a mic is sitting next to Sarah who has a blonde pony tail and is being interviewed. I am opposite smiling wearing a red t-shirt on the left is Paul wearing a blue top and smiling. The res of the coffee shop is dark.

Here’s the kit I used

from left to right, a silver torch with a purple light, a book called The Ghost Hunters Guide by Peter Underwood, a cat ball toy, a black hand held EMF reader, a large thermal imaging camera, a set of sleigh bells, a hip flask and a This Notebook Might Be Haunted weird in the wade note book.

Here’s some video taken during the ghost hunt of the CCTV. I was checking my jewellery to make sure there was nothing magnetic in my earrings or necklace that were setting off the EMF reader. Are the little sparks of light just motes of dust or something else?

Thank you to Alison and Darren also for sharing their wonderful story from the ghost walk with us.

Ciarán O’Keeffe
