If you’re missing weird in the wade during it’s brief hiatus then I have the perfect remedy for you. Every Monday I am going to share with you some recommendations for weird reads, visits or listens. Today’s recommendation is Owen Staton’s wonderful Time Between Times Storytelling Podcast, that returned last week with a special guest, which was me! More on that later.
You can find Time Between Times storytelling on all good podcast apps and here on the Time Between Times podcast website: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/time-between-times-storytelling-with-owen-staton/id1573244734
I discovered Time Between Times in May 2023 and have been an avid listener since. Owen has a voice as dramatic as the welsh mountains, as memorable as the valleys and as fluid and changeable as the sea. It’s no wonder he was chosen to voice a new Richard Burton heritage trail. You can find out more about that trail here: https://dramaticheart.wales/richard-burton/
Time Between Times podcast has a unique sound and feel, not just because of Owen’s wonderful voice but also the way he crafts and tells his tales. Many of the stories include ghosts, many myths and legends from his native Wales, but many of his tales are from further afields as well. The gentle familarity of the firepit, he guides us to each episode, has something of the Anglo Saxon and Norse story telling motifs about it. Owen is also now including meditations at the close of each of his new episodes which is the perfect way to end your time at the firepit in the heart of the forest with Owen.
I mentioned earlier that I was delighted to be a guest on Owen’s latest episode talking about the magic we can find on our doorsteps. Here’s a link to the episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/time-between-times-storytelling-with-owen-staton/id1573244734?i=1000727435936
It seems like a good time to share this photo of teasles I took the night of the last lunar eclipse. A properly magical night that I witnessed almost literally on my doorstep.

Owen also has a substack where you can read more of his fication and nonfiction posts: https://owenstaton.substack.com/
